This position is for Software Developers with extensive experience in complex software projects. The candidates need strong programming and analytical skills, problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork and excellent communication skills. The candidates will also need to communicate at different technical levels, from the application architects to the end user. We seek energetic and skilled resources to work in a dynamic, collaborative and ever-changing environment. This opportunity will support new Point of Sale software product deliverables. Our developers are involved in the entire project lifecycle: they interact directly with our retail customers to understand and document requirements; they collaborate with the implementation and test teams on design and development; and, they oversee delivery and provide ongoing support for their work.
This role requires demonstrated experience with the Java and other technologies that drive our products. The ideal candidate will excel in our fast-paced, collaborative, customer-first environment and will contribute in a variety of ways, including:
-Developing new custom function and assisting with defect support
-Working closely with the QA team to ensure a quality deliverable
-Creating product documentation for end-users
-Contributing to our legacy of outstanding innovation through the invention/IP process
-This role is based in Research Triangle Park, NC. Minimal travel may be required, but would be rare.
Required Skills & Experience
-A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
-Exceptional written and verbal communication
-At least 5 years of Java-based development
-Computer science fundamentals including object-oriented concepts, data structures and related algorithms
-Familiarity with the software engineering lifecycle and methodologies
-Linux-based operating systems, including software installation, light administration and simple scripting
Preferred Skills & Experience
-A working knowledge of Maven, Sockets and OSGi
-Familiarity with retail concepts and/or applications
-Experience with retail POS applications and devices
-A Master of Science degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field
