Our client, a leading regional provider of integrated communications, entertainment, and internet services, is currently seeking candidates for a Network Engineer position. This individual will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for supporting new designs and enhancements to the company's IP network. Additionally, they will provide concepts and deliver designs that ensure high network availability and are easily deployable across voice, video, and data networks, including core and edge network components.
Located North of Pittsburgh, this full-time position will have an excellent salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401K.
Work collaboratively with other network engineers, operations engineers, sales engineers, customers, vendors, technicians, and management to ensure customer demand and project deadlines are met.
Provide designs and other documentation to ensure the smooth execution of new network device installation, including configuration, turn-up and MOP (Method of Procedure), and provide a clean hand off to the Network Operations Team.
Work with Technology team to accept the handoff of new technology designs in such a way they can be implemented in a timely manner.
Utilize capacity planning reports to ensure network capacity augments are promptly completed with no customer impact.
Keep accurate network documentation that is acceptable and easily understood by other departments and, when necessary, outside vendors.
Act as level-4 escalation point for network/customer issues.
Provide direction and guidance for policy and procedure creation related to engineering practices and network design.
Prefer 5+ years as a network engineer in a service provider environment. Experience in network operations is a plus.
Four-year engineering degree from an accredited college or university or 10 years work of Network Engineering experience.
Must be able to demonstrate and apply strong design knowledge and understanding of IP networks to complete network designs and augments.
Thorough knowledge and experience with various networking standards and protocols included, but not limited to, MPLS, DWDM, various layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF & EIGRP), Ethernet, VLAN tagging, spanning tree protocol, etc.
Thorough knowledge and experience with QoS and data prioritization standards and methods including DSCP, 802.1p (PCP), MPLS EXP, SPQ, WRR, and WFQ.
Thorough knowledge and experience with MPLS L2VPN services, L3VPN services, LDP and BGP signaling. RSVP-TE is a plus.
Possess and demonstrate the ability to work independently under minimal supervision; must be a self-starter that can work on multiple projects simultaneously.
