The Lead IT Operations Technician supports documentation and processes for a 24/7 IT Operations Command Center and Data Center. This role supports centralized and distributed IT environments and applications to ensure the availability, performance and throughput in accordance with OLAs, SLAs and other requirements. This role provides interface and support for IT partner teams, leads all support and update activities of process and documentation, and analyzes and designs highly complex solutions to issues in the environment.
Key Responsibilities: •Provides advance technical guidance to staff members, leads on departmental projects. •Performs monitoring of enterprise-wide architecture to ensure optimal availability; Performs restoration of service of identified incidents. •Perform change related activities; Installs and maintains VMware, VSphere, Linux, and Microsoft Windows based server environments. •Monitors incident, problem, change, and service request queues, ensuring items are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner. •Independently pursues tasks as directed by management; Identifies areas in the Command Center for improvement. •Takes a role in training less experienced staff.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required: •8+ years computer operations experience in a large data center environment involving multiple platforms/technologies or similar environment. •Experience with Windows, Linux, Cloud Computing, Vsphere/Vmware, and its related hardware components and Infrastructure. •IT management tools, Storage and backup components. •ADP or equivalent certification preferred, or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. US citizenship is a requirement for certification.
Preferred: •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience. •Good communication skills, ability to build effective partnerships with peer groups, vendor staff, etc. •Ability to focus on multiple tasks and projects, potentially in parallel with regular monitoring and restoration of service activities. •Familiarity with Mainframe and its disciplines.
