As the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Cybersecurity Services group, this person reports to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and works closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC) team as an escalation point for complex incident, problem, or change analysis for both internal and external customers. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for technical leadership and coordination of NPC's information security services infrastructure. In this role, it will be critical to coordinate efforts with relevant stakeholders within IT Development, IT Infrastructure, Maintenance, and Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in defining and driving strategic initiatives.
Serve as an escalation resource and mentor for other cybersecurity analysts.
Participate as a member of the security incident response team.
Perform investigation and escalation for critical or high severity security threats or incidents.
Perform system security administration on designated technology platforms, including operating systems, applications and network security devices.
Work on complex tasks assigned by leadership, which may involve coordination of effort among Level 1 and Level 2 analysts.
Perform threat and vulnerability assessments to ensure that systems are protected from known and potential threats. In some cases, it will be necessary to follow appropriate remedial action.
Coordinate evidence/data gathering and documentation, and review Security Incident reports.
Create and develop SOC processes and procedures working with Level 2 Analysts.
Provide recommendations for improvements to NPC's Security Policy, Procedures, and Architecture based on operational insights.
Apply patches to security infrastructure, where appropriate, as required by vulnerability assessments, management directive, or managed security services provider.
Define and assist in creation of operational and executive reports, including compliance.
Research, recommend, evaluate and implement cybersecurity solutions that identify and/or protect against potential threats and respond to security violations.
Provide leadership and technical guidance in project planning, task definition, estimating, reporting, scheduling, documentation, and workflow.
Perform installation and configuration management of security systems and applications, including policy assessment and compliance tools, network security appliances and host-based security systems.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related technical field of study and/or 5+ years of experience working in an information security operation.
CompTIA Security+ or ISC2 CISSP desired.
Experience supporting and monitoring security systems ideally in a geographically dispersed environment.
