A Systems Administrator at Confluence is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling our staff and business.
What Will You Do Here?
Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of company’s PCs, servers, network, A/V and phone systems to ensure availability to critical business systems
Performs installation, configuration and upgrade tasks for infrastructure systems (PCs, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, phone switch, etc.)
Serves as troubleshooter on PC, server, phone system and network problems
Proactively monitors the network, desktops, servers, phone and services
Researches and evaluates new technology (hardware, software, devices, etc.)
Makes recommendations for improving performance and saving money
Keeps informed of most recent trends and technologies
Requests quotes and purchases user hardware and software
Manages the company’s hardware and software assets including inventory, licensing compliance and warranties
Participates in planning and recommending architectural designs for the company infrastructure
Responsible for systems backups, risk mitigation and business continuity
What Technical Skills Do You Need?
Four or more years of network/system support experience required or equivalent combination of experience and education
Current Microsoft professional certification preferred (MCSE, MCDBA, MCSA, MCP)
Current Cisco professional network administration certification preferred (CCNA)
Proficient in Microsoft client and servers, OS and applications
Experience with Operating systems (Linux, Apple, Solaris), Virtualization (Citrix, VMware, Hyper-V, Xen), Storage management (SAN, NAS), Remote Access (VPN, RSA SecurID), Wireless services and protocols, Business email systems (spam filtering, replication, virus protection, etc.)
High level of creativity with the ability to solve complex technical problems
IP network management skills, including a solid understanding of common network and related protocols, services, and technologies; DNS, DHCP, IIS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, SSL, RAS, SFTP, RDP, XML, NTP, telnet, SSH, IPSec, VLANs, VPN, routing, switching, firewall rules and cabling.
Experience with Risk Management, Business Continuity and Incident Response
Experience with industry best practices and knowledge of ITIL
Experience with software developer environments preferred (SDLC, SharePoint, Team Foundation Server, wikis, build/test/QA servers)
