As part of the Global Marketing Technology organization, this position will play a critical role in managing customer experience, collaboration, and strategies that drive engaging digital experiences. We are looking for a passionate, customer-centric, experienced design leader who thrives at the intersection of design and technology. In this role you will immerse yourself in the portfolio of digital marketing to drive the customer experience on cutting edge marketing capabilities for properties such as www.metlife.com. As a User Experience Design Director, you will be at the forefront of collaborating and driving Global Brand’s user experience throughout our digital organization.
Success in this role relies on the candidate’s ability to balance design best practices, constant new learnings, business goals and feasibility while serving as part of an integrated global team. You will independently be the liaison between our Cary based technical team and the New York City Global Brand team.
Daily work falls primarily into three areas:
•Work within an Agile development team to develop high-level concepts for features and functionality, and document through the creation of wireframes, user flows, site maps and prototypes
•Facilitate brainstorming and sketching exercises for ideation to drive and determine the direction for designs
•Determine and drive the best design solutions to address user issues and needs while also working with the Brand team to assure effectively branded UI design
•Stay current in the fields of UX and technology
•Stay abreast of rapidly changing web and mobile technologies, and how they fit into the MetLife global strategy
•Collaborate with the Global Brand Customer Experience team in NY to align technology and design, and contribute to rapid prototyping of new designs for MetLife.com
•Lead or participate in usability testing and other research
•Help create testing artifacts, e.g., a user flow to be tested, or mockups for the test
•Analyze results of testing and find pragmatic ways to implement findings
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
•5+ years designing Web-based or mobile consumer websites or applications for large organizations
•Demonstrated ability developing and executing creative ideas through the creation of wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes
•Must be self-motivated, client experience oriented and a strong team player able to work in an Agile development environment
•Must be extremely detail-oriented, able to define ideas down to a specification level
•Must present a positive, professional image. Solid thought leadership skills required.
•Good project management skills; ability to plan, manage, and execute on simultaneous projects under tight deadlines in a collaborative, agile environment; must be able to drive project, debate merits of approach and work effectively with others.
•Knowledge of the financial industry a plus
•Experience working with the Agile methodology a plus
•Must have an online portfolio or samples of recent work (i.e., mockups, prototypes, specifications, guidelines)
