U. S. Steel is seeking candidates for an Intermediate Java Application Developer at our Business Service Center in the South Side. The ideal candidate will design and develop Java programs to implement complex enhancement and maintenance requests for the Outside Processor applications. Test and debug program changes and prepare necessary documentation for implementation, following the BSC procedures for change control.
Major Responsibilities: ? Design and develop Java programs for Outside Processing applications used by Processed Products. ? Solve complex business problems through the implementation of coding solutions. ? Implement new programming interfaces between applications supported by our teams and those supported by other service provider groups. ? Prepare and execute unit test scenarios involving Java programs. ? Monitor data sent by other applications that interface with our programs. ? Ensure that programs are functioning properly to avoid disruption of business operations. ? Closely interface with the business/functional groups, other service provider groups, infrastructure teams, and outside processors in order to analyze and troubleshoot reported issues. ? Complete all documentation related to program changes as specified in our change control procedures. ? Participate in audits, such as internal audits and SOX audits, by supplying requested system data.
Education: ? Bachelors Degree required. Majors preferred are Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.
Preferred Skills: ? Experience with OO Design Patterns, Spring, JPA, JMS (IBM MQ), JAXB ? Eclipse or Eclipse-based IDEs, such as RAD or WSAD, and with version control / change management software IBM ClearCase and ClearQuest ? Oracle Fusion Middleware, specifically Soa Mediator and BPEL development, using JDeveloper. ? Hibernate, JavaMail, Webservices, JUnit ? Experience using Tidal or any scheduling software and writing Shell/Windows Command scripts.
